EQUIPMENT:
Stud/Spike: Studs are allowed on tires regardless
of category
Sharp Spikes are prohibited on tires regardless of category.
Ex: Wood screws may be used if the point of the screw is
facing in towards the rim (Head of screw is facing towards the
snow ). Or if screws are installed from the inside out
the point of the screw has been ground down to a flat
surface.
All Tires must pass inspection at the riders meeting.
Bike/Frames: Any style of MTB bike may be used (ex.
Hard Tail, Full Suspension, 29er). Skibikes are not allowed.
You have to have actual tires for this one!
Tire Sizing: All tire sizes are permitted, however we
wouldn't recommend anything smaller than a 2.1"
Helmets: Helmets are required for this event.
COMPETITION:
Start, 10:00 AM SHARP at the base of Golden Peak.
All riders must meet at the base of the finish arena in Golden Peak
at 9:30am for a rider meeting and to be shuttled via snow mobile to
the start area.
Course will be set with GS style gates.
All riders will be seeded in brackets via a combination of USAC and
previous years results. There will be no qualifying
round.
All riders will race the first round on the same course and then
flip courses for elimination to the next round.
Riders will be shuttled to the top via snowmobiles.
Awards will take place following the competition at Golden Peak
stage.
COURSE:
The course is entirely on snow. Course conditions
will depend entirely on weather conditions leading up to the event
and the day of the event. The course is normally on a hard
packed groomed section race course on the mountain. However
if it is snowing day of or leading up to the event the course
conditions could vary.
There are natural undulations on the course, however, there will be
no artificial banks. We plan on cutting 1-2 drops, however,
this will depend on snow conditions the night before the
race. This is a wide open fast course.
The course length is approximately 1000 feet from top to bottom
with a significant elevation loss.
There will be approximately 15-18 gates to negotiate. The
course setter will determine the gate placement. Expect a
fast flowing top section followed by a tight technical middle and
bottom section.
Sorry but there will not be any practice allowed on the
course. We are limited on the time and use of snowmobiles and
will not be able to shuttle riders for practice.
Additionally, snow courses are subject to breakdown and we want to
keep the conditions as good as possible for as long as
possible.
