GRETCHEN REEVES
Event: Ultimate Mountain Challenge
Hometown: Augusta, Georgia

The scoop: Reeves, a professional cross-country mountain biker for Tokyo Joe's, was the winner of last year's Ultimate Mountain Challenge at the Summer Mountain Games.

She's a formidable endurance racer, with accomplishments that include winning the 2002 and 2003 Transalp Challenge titles and the 2004 and 2005 National Marathon cross-country titles.

She started mountain biking while studying at the University of Georgia at Athens and moved to Vail following graduation, where she turned pro in 1997. She still lives nearby in Edwards, and you may have seen her racing with other local pros as part of the Nike/Beaver Creek adventure race team. She's also an avid telemark skier, snowshoer and backpacker.

You didn't know... She's always loved the Georgia Bulldogs. Growing
up, her dream was to try out for the football team and be a running back like Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker. She had to settle for being a Bulldogs cheerleader which, she says, still ended up being a lot of fun.

I am competing in the Ultimate Mountain man Challenge. At 55 years old I will be one of the more Senior competitors. So living much lower than the altitude I will find in Vail Colorado I do as much endurance training as possible. Finished the Kentucky Derby Marathon this past Saturday. Event: Ultimate Mountain Challenge
Hometown: East Jordan, Michigan

The scoop: Middaugh, winner of last year's Ultimate Mountain
Challenge, is probably best known as an accomplished XTERA triathlete
who won the national championships in 2004, 2005 and 2007. He also is a regular on the podium of the National Snowshoe Championship and at endurance mountain biking events.

Middaugh started out as a cross-country runner, competing as a Division I cross-country and track athlete at Central Michigan University. White Spacer 50px ADAM WIRTH
Boside, ID

My name is Adam Wirth and I am a professional triathlete specializing in XTERRA or off-road triathlon. This will be my first year to compete in the UMC and I am excited to branch out into this type of multisport event. Growing up in the mountains of Wyoming and Colorado and now living in Idaho, I have developed a love for racing and training in these beautiful settings and there is no better setting than Vail Village, home of the GoPro Mountain Games.

For the past three seasons, I have focused on the XTERRA Pro Points series but this season I have changed my focus to a variety of different mountain endurance races and multisport events. I started 2013 off with an Elite podium finish at the US Winter Triathlon Championships in Montana and I won the Pole Pedal Paddle in Jackson Wyoming. The GoPro Mountain Games will be the first focus of summer season, followed by Marathon Mountain Bike Nationals (Sun Valley, Idaho), the High Cascade 100 mountain bike race, and the Inferno Triathlon (Grindelwald, Switzerland). These are all unique mountain events that scream fun and a healthy level of suffering.

I am also very excited to share these events with my family. I am a father of two wonderful children (Mac 8 years old and Lucy 5 years old). My wife and I have already set them on the path of enjoying the activities the mountains have to offer. Our family is ready to enjoy the atmosphere and events surrounding the GoPro Mountain Games.
