Gore Creek is the whitewater capital of the Summer Mountain
Games.
Both the Down
River Sprint and SUP Surf Sprint rage Gore Creek from
East Vail to the Covered Bridge in
the heart of Vail Village. Along this streatch of river,
competitors will face class II-III rapids and drops in addition to
numerous low hanging bridges. The water is cold and fast and eddies
for recovery can be few and far between.
The area between the Covered Bridge and International Bridge in
Vail Village on Gore Creek is home to the Vail Whitewater
Park in addition to many super spectator-friendly events.
Action on this short stretch of water includes the 8 Ball Kayak
Sprint, Raft
Cross, Kayak
Freestyle and SUP Surf Cross. The best viewing access
for these events can be found near the International
Bridge/Vail Whitewater Park.
